Le BY-PASS

In order to facilitate the transport of the troops and the equipment disembarked from the artificial harbour at Arromanches and convey them as fast as possible to the front, a road skirting around Bayeux was built by the British army’s engineering department. The By-pass was operational on 24th June 1944.

Pour faciliter le transport des troupes et du matériel débarqués du port artificiel d’Arromanches et les acheminer au plus vite sur le front, une route contournant la ville de Bayeux est construite par les royal Engineers britanniques. Le by-pass est opérationnel dès le 24 juin 1944.
